How to Cover a Corkboard With Fabric

You may find yourself wondering how to cover a corkboard with fabric; in fact, this project is easier than it seems. It is also an extremely affordable project, especially if you find the corkboard at a local thrift store or yard sale. All you need is a basic boring corkboard and a few simple supplies to create a unique and beautiful fabric-covered corkboard that looks great in your home or office.
First: Prepare the frame
Depending on what the frame is made of, simply choose the proper craft paint in a color that goes well with your chosen fabric. Slap on multiple coats to get good coverage.
Second: Cut the fabric
Cut a piece of fabric to fit the board exactly. If you have access to a rotary cutter and cutting mat, this is ideal; however, it is also easily accomplished with a good pair of scissors.
Third: Apply the fabric
Protect the frame by taping it off with painter's or masking tape. Then apply spray adhesive directly on the cork. Carefully apply the cloth to the cork and use cardboard to smooth out any bubbles. Consider stapling the fabric along the edges of the frame in a few places to keep it securely in place.
Fourth: Finishing touches
Use ribbon or other trim to cover the edge where the fabric meets the frame and staples. Fabric-Tac glue is ideal. Use a separate piece of ribbon or trim on each edge for a neater result. Create adorable pushpins by attaching fancy buttons to simple thumbtacks, which is a great way to add even more creativity to your board.
