How to Decorate Your Own Cork Board

Learn how to decorate your own cork board to create a stylish spot for posting memos and favorite photos. Finish this simple project in under a couple of hours, or invite your kids to participate for a great family activity.

  1. First: Prepare yourself

Take measurements of your cork board to ensure that you have enough fabric and decorative trim. Cover your table or work surface with newspaper. Measure your cloth material, leaving an extra two inches to accommodate for a stapled border.

  2. Second: Make it stick

Use adhesive spray on the surface of the cork board, covering it entirely to secure the fabric. Position the fabric so that it is centered on the cork board, and smooth out any wrinkles working outward from the center. Tug the material taut. Flip the cork board over and staple the remainder of the fabric on the reverse side, making sure the edges are smooth (if using a framed cork board, you may need to staple on both sides).

  3. Third: Trim it up

Arrange the ribbon in a crisscross design and tack the ribbon down with push pins. For an extra touch of decoration, staple any extra ribbon along the edges for bulletin board borders.
