How to Make Your Own Jack-O-Lantern Push Pins

1. First: Gather your materials

   For this project, you need some wedding gown size metal buttons, jack-o-lantern fabric, a circular object to trace (a quarter works nicely), hot glue and tacks. You also need a pair of pliers or wire cutters.

2. Second: Cut your fabric

   You can use a fabric with a jack-o-lantern print, but if you want a customized look, you can paint your fabric with any jack-o-lantern theme you like. Once you select your fabric, take your circular tracing tool and cut out as many circles as the number of push pins you want to create. Do not worry about making the edges smooth, since you tuck the edges under the buttons.

3. Third: Prepare your buttons

   Take your pack of buttons and pull the loops off the backs, using either a wire cutter or pliers. Using the "pusher" tool that came with your buttons, cover your buttons with the circular fabric pieces you just cut out. Cover the entire button and tuck the excess fabric around the edges.

4. Fourth: Glue your tack

   Using your hot glue gun, glue a tack to the back of each button. A standard stack should fit perfectly. Make sure you use a generous amount of hot glue, since push pins need to stand up to a lot of pressure; you do not want them to fall apart.
